It’s the first of the month and fall is in full effect. I’m very excited and optimistic for a number of reasons. I have been putting things off for a while but I’m slowly getting my shit together. I’m trying to practice minimalism and efficiency. I’m also trying to stick to a workout routine. Also I’ll try to keep this blog updated. So I’m not dead but yes, this is my comeback!

Ego by The Sounds

Another Swedish punk rock band, The Sounds. The introduction for this song is tight. If it sounds familar, the guy who produced the album was also the producer of The Killer’s Hot Fuss album. I can’t believe that this song isn’t a single. The two songs that were singles from the album were “Painted By Numbers” and “Tony the Beat” are pretty good too.

This song is catchy, but it will probably be a one hit wonder for the band. Kind of like A-Ha. The band, like A-Ha definitely has other good songs. I think the reason why the song is so catchy is because of the whistling. That’s definitely the “Asian riff”. You know what I mean. You probably heard this song, they have used it in many TV shows and it was in a commercial too. These guys hail from Sweden.

Felt like summer this weekend. The thing that sucks is that my car is out in the sun all day long (street parking) and I left my sunglasses on the passenger seat and you can guess what happened next. Even the steering wheel felt too hot to touch. But hot weather is good. It means girls wear less clothes and show more skin. =) Ha. This song here is a incredibly beautiful song, perfect for a summer evening. Fittingly it came out last summer and has the lyrics “I don’t want to feel like it’s an end of a summer”. It’s a breakup song though, and it reminds a bit of The Cure. Shout Out Louds is a band from the country that brought us IKEA (which by the way is the world’s largest manufacturer and an exclusive furnisher for my apartment). So anyway, the summer line is a metaphor for an end of a relationship. A relationship that a guy is trying to forget but can’t. He thought she was the one, but she just wanted to have fun and wasn’t ready for a serious thing. Word of wisdom at the end of the song: “Stay out of love until you’re ready, stay out of it ’cause it scares you.”
