Your Place in the World by The Space Brothers

July 22, 2008 - 11:18 pm No Comments

I’m totally in a chill music mode right now. My grandfather passed away in Vietnam last weekend. You know I hardly knew him, but on Sunday my family and relatives paid our last respects to him. My mom told me that when I was 3 in Vietnam, me and my cousin ran off because we wanted to visit our grandfather’s house. Of course, we got lost. I have no memory of that though. Sad. The earliest memory I have is kindergarden. My memories increased vastly from 3rd grade on. Anyway, I think this song has a good meaning, if I learned anything from the stories my relatives told me about my grandfather, it would be to find my place in this world. My place is to help others.

Beautiful (Canny Remix) by Mandalay

July 21, 2008 - 10:40 pm No Comments

Listening to chill music helps me relax after a long day. I’ve been working so many long hours, basically I wake up at 6:30am, I leave my flat by 7:25am, and I get home around by 10:15pm. On weekends it’s I’m now pulling a Saturday morning shift and 6-8 hours of work on Sunday. For chill music it’s very important to have a nice stereo system so that you can listen to the clarity. It transform you into into another land. No drugs needed. I can’t listen to chill music in any other way (headphones or crappy Macbook speakers). This song is on a compilation called “Serve Chilled” by the label Hed Kandi (known for great compilations of trip-hop, house, disco).

Drive by The Cars

Happy Memorial Day everybody. I had a fantastic weekend. Now back to down to business. 8 years ago I bought my car on Memorial Day weekend, so this is a dedication to my car. It’s a 2000 Honda Civic EX coupe, emerald pearl green. I have been through a lot with this car and I’m so happy to say that I’m planning to keep driving it for at least another 8 years. Sorry Lis, but I can’t give you my car. I know there are millions of Civics out there but this one’s special because it’s mine. Now I know this song is a sad song, but I like chilling out to sad love songs.

Kissing by Bliss

It’s been snowing all morning, which is great because I haven’t seen snow since I was on a sixth grade camping trip. With this kind of weather it’s really nice to sit back with a cup of hot cocoa and listen to chill music. I have these series of cd compilations called Winter Chill by a label called Hed Kandi. This song here is from a Danish group called Bliss and the album is called Quiet Letters. Bliss is deeply rooted in a fine collage of western, African and classical musical influences, and representing the vast musical backgrounds of the band. Quiet Letters is an album that transports you far beyond the beaches of Ibiza, on a travel through African soul, Scandinavian jazz, and ethereal pop.

Burned with Desire by Armin Van Buuren featuring Justine Suissa

March 24, 2008 - 11:18 pm No Comments

This song is the original album version, the more popular one is the Rising Star trance mix. I prefer this one since the beat is slow and hypnotic. Lyrics are pretty good. There are many different mixes of this song. Justine’s voice is beautiful and amazing. I heard this song through my friend while we were working he was playing music from his iPod. I wish I could write more about this song but I’ll keep it short. After a long day at work, I get home at 10:30 pm, and I’ll listen to this song to chill out.
