Ready for the Floor by Hot Chip

June 28, 2008 - 10:36 pm No Comments

Currently my favorite songs of the moment (I kinda wore out Shake it by Metro Station). Hot Chip is a British electropop band. I love this guy’s voice. This song is great for the dance floor. I don’t get guys who go to clubs and don’t dance. Damn wallflowers, just stay at home and watch Soul Train then. The video is a bit weird, a rip off of two villians in Batman: 2 Face and The Joker. Reminds me I can’t wait for The Dark Knight this summer.

Bang on the Drum by Todd Rundgren

I’m in charge of the music for my coworker’s retirement party. She’s 62 and pretty serious, but a good lady. I think this song would fit here. Hilarious song! Especially this part: “Every day when I get home from work
I feel so frustrated / The boss is a jerk / And I get my sticks and go out to the shed /And I pound on that drum like it was the boss’s head” By the way, my boss is pretty cool.

Blind by Hercules and Love Affair

Proof that disco ain’t dead. Hercules and Love Affair. This song has grown on me. It reminds of Erasure. Hercules and Love Affair is a musical project by DJ Andy Butler, similar to Gorillaz. They consist of the DJ and three other members. Their first album was released this year has been critcally acclaimed. The lyrics here are pretty good too. Makes you want to dance in the fog. Haha.

Shake It by Metro Station

Man, I love rocking out to this song. The song is damn catchy, and I hear it’s popular now on MTV TRL. Myspace helped launched their careers. Check it out. One of the band’s member is Hannah Montanna’s brother. The album came out last September and you could of gotten it for free (legally) from the free iTunes Single of the Week. I couldn’t embed the official video but I found this one made by some fans. Haha, cute. I love dancing to this song. In my room of course.

2 Late by The Cure

June 22, 2008 - 7:33 pm No Comments

This song is probably the best Cure song that you have never heard of. Because it’s a B-Side to the popular single “Lovesong”. B-sides are songs you can find on singles that do not appear on the album. The word B-side comes from the 7-inch vinyl records, with the A side being the featured single. Nowadays “B-side” songs are referred to as unreleased, non-album, or just exclusive. You can find this song on the 4 disc rarities boxset entitled “Join the Dots: B-Sides and Rarities, 1979-2001″. Have a listen, it’s hauntingly beautiful and sad. One of my favorite Cure songs.
